Shimul International Painting Challenge is organized by Shimul Music Circle in collaboration with Russian Centre of Science & Culture, Kolkata who will henceforth be referred to as the organizers
Venue
Gorky Sadan, 3 Gorky Terrace, Kolkata 700017
PURPOSE
The purpose behind this Painting Competition is to raise fund for the SHIMULCHHAYA LADIES HOSTEL (a hostel for economically backward but meritorious girl students—60 seats).

Anyone may enter the competition, which is open to professional artists, students, amateurs, enthusiasts and beginners, who will henceforth be referred to as the artists.
Members of the Panel of Judges are not allowed to participate.
The artist will have to produce printed folder/catalogue at the time of the submission of his/her work.
Participants are requested to submit high resolution image of the work in CD along with the art object (JPEG File)
Each artist is entitled to submit maximum two works for one category.
Each artist can participate in all 4 categories.
Artists are advised that the organizers cannot be held responsible for the safety of participants competing in the Shimul International Painting Challenge.
The organizers reserve the right to refuse entry at their sole discretion.
Artists must agree to abide by the rules displayed here.
"Panel of judges" »
The panel of Judges for the Shimul International Painting Challenge is composed of senior professionals of fine arts. They have full authority to accept or reject any exhibit. The Panel of Judges is responsible for the judgment of contestants’ works and its decisions in each round of the contest will be final and no objection or any communication on the subject will not be entertained.
Execution date of Exhibits
All paintings should be after October 1, 2009.
The works should be original and such works that have not been exhibited in any previous exhibition.

Rs.100/- (Rupees One Hundred Only)

3. Indian Painting in Traditional Style/water colour

The Grand Prize
The winner of each category will walk away with a 4 day Foreign trip.
In addition, there are 100 other exciting consolation prizes to be won.
Each winner will also receive a special certificate
Each winner will participate in two group show or exhibition.
The Panel of Judges may withheld at their discretion any of the awards if they do not find of any group the exhibits up to the required standard.
Award may be shared as per the verdict of the judging committee.
REPRODUCTION & COPYRIGHT
Artists must grant the organizers the right to reproduce their entry for publicity and other purposes
ReceIPT
Exhibits will be received in the Gorky Sadan on all days (except Sunday and holidays) between 12 to 5 p.m.
Organizers are not responsible for insurance, accommodation or transport charges incurred by the participants.
Organizers will take every possible care of the exhibits submitted but will not be liable for any damage.
Painting must be suitably framed.
Entry should be properly labeled. Label is supplied with the entry form.
Size of Painting, Drawing: minimum (inches) ---20x20, maximum (inches) ---60x60
Last date
Exhibits received on or before December 12th 2009 will be considered for selection.

Selected paintings (prize winner’s work) will be organizers property.
Artist will have to provide Authenticity Certificate if required.
It is understood that unless we are notified in writing to the contrary, the artwork is with copyright and unconditional.
Non-selected art work must be collected within 20th December, 2009 in person or through an authorized representative along with the receipt issued by the organizer.(Except Sunday or holiday)
Artist will have no claim after December 20, 2009.
Grand award ceremony
The Grand Award Ceremony will be held on Sunday, December 13th from 6.00 pm to 9.00 pm. The 100 winners will be invited with their associates.
Miscellaneous
The Competition Organization Committee has the ultimate authority to interpret the Rules and Regulations for the competition and has the right to make changes to them as necessary without prior notice.
